This smooth and creamy Dairy Free Hot Chocolate will warm you from your fingers to your toes. I use with my favorite milk substitute, but you can use whichever you prefer. It comes together in a flash and tastes like the real thing.
More Hot Drinks
Sipping on a hot drink is a daily ritual of mine. Typically next to a pumpkin muffin or chocolate chip cookie and accompanied by a book or movie (when I've earned it). If you love a delicious hot drink like I do, please try our Bailey's Irish Cream Mocha or White Chocolate Mocha.
If avoiding dairy is something you do regularly, check out our Oat Milk Hot Chocolate or Dairy Free Brownies and we even have a creamy Dairy Free Broccoli Potato Soup!
Ingredients
- Unsweetened vanilla almond milk — or any milk alternative you prefer
- Dairy free chocolate chips — Costco, Trader Joe's or other
- Unsweetened cocoa powder - such as Hershey's or Ghirardelli
- Coconut sugar — or any sugar of your choice
- Cinnamon — optional, but adds a touch of spice
- Pinch of salt - don't skip the salt! It adds a great amount of added flavor.
- Vanilla extract — or peppermint for a holiday vibe
Instructions
Super simple steps and just 5 minutes!
- In a small saucepan combine all ingredients except vanilla.
- Using a whisk, give the mixture a good stir until the cocoa powder is dissolved. As mixture heats up it will combine easier.
- Once mixture is heated through (about 3 minutes), pour into a mug. Top with dairy free whip cream (or marshmallows) and a sprinkle of cinnamon or a few dairy free chocolate chips, and enjoy!
