Spicy, creamy and hot, only 4 ingredients and 10 minutes, this Dairy Free Buffalo Chicken Dip is a must-make for any party. Enjoy this dip guilt-free and serve with tortilla chips, potato chips, celery or sliced bread. Totally amazing and super quick.
We love this Buffalo Dip anytime, but especially in the summer served on a large platter with lots of chips, vegetables and bread. Makes a fantastic appetizer before a neighborhood barbecue.
This Dairy Free version of Buffalo Dip was inspired by my inability to digest dairy and my other dairy free recipes. This buffalo dip appetizer pairs well with any of our amazing burger recipes or can be used on our Buffalo Chicken Burger with Blue Cheese Slaw.

Ingredients
Just 4 ingredients and 10 minutes to make this Dairy Free Buffalo Dip. I like to pick up bulk chunk chicken and the Primal Kitchen Buffalo Sauce at Costco.
- Cans of Chunk Chicken Breast - I like to buy mine in bulk from Costco
- Dairy Free Sour Cream - such as Kite Hill, or lactose free such as Good Culture
- Vegan Cheese Shreds - such as Chao or your favorite plant based cheese
- Dairy Free Buffalo Sauce - such as Primal Kitchen
- Green Onions - optional, but makes a great addition
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
- In a large bowl, microwave-safe bowl or serving dish, mix the chicken, sour cream, ¼ cup cheese shreds and buffalo sauce.
- Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir, top off with remaining ¼ cup cheese shreds and microwave another minute.
- Serve immediately with chips, bread and celery.
Alternately, place dip in an oven-safe dish, prepare as above and place in a 350°F oven on the center rack. Bake until hot and bubbling on the edges, about 15 minutes.
Hint: Place heated dip in a small Crockpot and keep warm throughout a whole party. Use these crockpot liners for easy cleanup too! I love these. It makes cleanup so much easier than soaking that big, heavy crockpot bowl.
What to serve with Buffalo Dip
Buffalo dip is a classic party-pleasing appetizer, but you can get creative with what you serve alongside. Here are a few ideas:
- Vegetables - celery, carrots, sliced cucumbers and red bell pepper sticks.
- Chips - corn tortilla chips, or my favorite grain-free tortilla chips, potato chips or sweet potato chips are all delicious to dip. Crackers are also great, like these Almond Flour Crackers, Ritz or Wheat Thins.
- Breads - Simply place a crusty loaf of bread that can be ripped and dipped, breadsticks, or thinly slice a baguette.

Storage
This Dairy Free dip will stay fresh in an airtight container for up to 7 days stored in the refrigerator. To reheat, simply place in a microwave safe dish and heat and stir until hot all the way through.
These ingredients do not stand up well to freezing because of the dairy free sour cream and cheese.
